Pietro Rosa TBM partners with Rolls-Royce

July 2014 - Pietro Rosa TBM, a leading manufacturer of compressor airfoils for jet engines and complex aero - structural components, has signed a long term contract with Rolls-Royce plc for the production of a new concept airfoil for the Trent XWB engine.

This contract is the result of more than three years research and development joint effort between Pietro Rosa TBM R&D team and Rolls-Royce advanced manufacturing team. “This was an incredible R&D exercise, the goal of which was to find smart and affordable engineering solutions to improve weight and aerodynamic performances of the component for higher efficiency and reduced cost.

Our engineering team stretched from a new concept design to a sophisticated integration of diverse metal forming, machining and joining technologies,“ reports Andrea Maurizio, Head of R&D of Pietro Rosa TBM. “This agreement represents the fulfillment of Pietro Rosa TBM mission to be a reliable partner for technology improvement on compressor airfoils and equally it represents the highest form of recognition for the strong commitment we place in providing full spectrum support to our partner customers.
