VALENCIA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 04/24/09 -- H2scan Corporation today announced that Prabhu Soundarrajan, Chief Scientist and Director of Strategic Applications Development, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the National Hydrogen Association (NHA), Small Business Class.

H2scan's Chief Marketing Officer Gary Zamieroski said, "This is very exciting for all of us here at H2scan. With our current range of products and technology, we are convinced that H2scan and the NHA networks can work together to broaden the message about hydrogen's benefits to industry, our economy and the environment. We congratulate him on his election to the board and are looking forward to seeing the results of his positive contributions."

Mr. Soundarrajan joined the company in 2007 as a research scientist. He has led research into new processes and materials to continually improve the capability of solid-state hydrogen sensors to meet challenging industrial applications. In addition to sensor research, he also directs contaminant testing at Sandia National Laboratory through H2scan's Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) and identifies key application areas to enable H2scan to enter into strategic markets.

Mr. Soundarrajan stated, "Hydrogen is a key energy source in several industries, including: Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Chemical, Fuel Cell, Automotive and Manufacturing sectors. I hope to work with key industrial players and fellow members to advance the mission of the NHA." He went on to say, "The international outreach, education and codes and standards are of particular interest to me and I am excited to be a part of the small business board of the NHA."

Mr. Soundarrajan is a member of the International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE), European Chlorine Organization (Eurochlor), The International Society of Automation (ISA) and the International Forum for Process Analytical Chemistry (IFPAC). He earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master's degree in Polymer Engineering from the University of Akron, Ohio. About NHA (http://www.hydrogenassociation.org/)

The National Hydrogen Association is a membership organization founded by a group of ten industry, university, research and small business members in 1989. Today the NHA's membership has grown to over 100 members, including representatives from the automobile industry; the fuel cell industry; aerospace; federal, state, and local government; energy providers; and many other industry stakeholders. The NHA serves as a catalyst for information exchange and cooperative projects and provides the setting for mutual support among industry, government and research/academic organizations.

Hydrogen is an abundant element capable of becoming the cornerstone of energy systems in the 21st Century. Members of the National Hydrogen Association come together seeking short-term results from information transfer activities and identification of research and business opportunities, while keeping an eye on the long-term direction of energy and environmental technology issues and the opportunities they present.

About H2scan (www.h2scan.com)

H2scan is the leading provider of high performance hydrogen specific sensor systems that provide accurate monitoring and control functions for a wide range of applications, including control systems, safety monitoring and alarm systems. H2scan also provides portable, handheld configurations for easy leak detection and monitoring.

H2scan's hydrogen specific sensing systems based on a patented "Chip on a flex" technology are able to detect and measure hydrogen without false readings or expensive support equipment required. The sensing systems are able to detect hydrogen in air down to 15 ppm concentration over a wide range of temperatures without cross-sensitivities to other gases. The ability to operate with or without the presence of oxygen with no interference from CO, sulfur or chlorine separates H2scan from all other in-line measuring technologies.

The company's solid-state technology was originated through development at Sandia National Laboratory and the U.S. Department of Energy. H2scan has commercialized the technology and currently offers over 15 products for retail sale. The product is exclusively available through H2scan or one of its authorized distributors.

H2scan Corporation is headquartered in Valencia, California, and was formed in 2002 with capital assistance from the Ravinia Venture Fund and Vancouver-based Chrysalix Energy Limited Partnership, that includes Ballard Power Systems Inc., Shell Hydrogen, The BOC Group, BASF Venture Capital and Mitsubishi Corporation.
